Project description
This project plans to introduce Professor ZhanguoBai, a lifelong senior researcher at the World Soil Information Center, a world-class platform in this field, and his team. The World Soil Information Center (ISRIC WorldSoilInformation) was established by UNESCO in 1966 and is the most authoritative organization for soil information worldwide, located in the Netherlands. The International Council for Science serves as the soil data center. Its main responsibility is to prepare the FAO World Soil Map, seek global soil partnerships for enriching the world soil database, and provide open data for global agriculture and nutrients. This project plans to introduce Professor/Dr. ZhanguoBai and his team to jointly build a sustainable soil quality and health management system in Hebei Province, with a focus on breakthroughs in soil water, carbon, nutrient and pollutant evaluation and management. In view of the current agricultural production situation in Hebei Province, the quality of soil fertility, environmental quality and health quality in Hebei Province are comprehensively evaluated, and the world's advanced sustainable soil quality health assessment system is constructed. According to the assessment results, the sustainable soil health management model suitable for soil health in Hebei Province is proposed by classification for healthy soil and different grades of problematic soil. The project plans to introduce Professor Zhang Guobai, a lifelong senior researcher of the World Soil Information Center, the world's top platform in this field, and his team. The soil quality is an indicator of the ability to ensure soil ecological security and sustainable use of resources, and is the core of sustainable development of modern green agriculture. Soil quality not only involves the main functions, types, and geographical location of soil, but also is related to external factors such as land use, soil management, ecological environment systems, socio-economic, political conditions, and human understanding. Its connotation comprehensively characterizes the measurement of soil's ability to maintain productivity, purify the environment, and ensure the health of animals and plants. Moreover, it is not solely limited to soil productivity, And include food safety, human and animal and plant health, and environmental quality in the scope of soil quality. After the 1970s, with the increase of population pressure on land, human over exploitation and utilization of soil resources led to the deterioration of soil resources, which posed a serious threat to sustainable agricultural development, ecological environment and global change. There are various types of landforms in Hebei Province, and there is a high risk of soil erosion in mountainous and hilly areas. The continuous development of agriculture with high multiple cropping index in plain areas has caused significant changes in soil quality in Hebei Province. Under the background of the current agricultural supply side structural reform in China, and under the requirements of green and sustainable agricultural development, the construction of sustainable soil health management system in Hebei Province is of great significance and far-reaching impact on the ecological construction and socio-economic development of Hebei Province.
